Over the years Adonia and Dimitri's summer vacations in Greece never aligned—until June 2023, when they officially met at a local event. Dimitris was running lights and sound while Adonia was helping her students prepare to perform. He kept his eye on her all night; at the end of the event he slipped his phone number to her on a small piece of paper and asked her out for coffee. Adonia didn’t call right away... Two months later her aunt, visiting Greece for the summer from Chicago, phoned her with a lot of excitement: “Hi honey, I just met your husband.” Adonia laughed, but her aunt was certain—“he just delivered my marble table! He’s so handsome and speaks perfect English!” Her aunt hadn’t caught his name, but the story stuck.

Months after that, Adonia called her aunt in Chicago and told her she was dating the “marble man” — and his name was Dimitris.
